Attica - Leva Guy Cooper, 80, of 312 E. Columbia St., Attica, died at 5:45 a.m. today in the Veterans Hospital Nursing Home at Danville, Ill. He had been seriously ill in the past two years and a patient at the home for a year. He had been employed as a clerk in the Attica Post Office until his retirement in December 1965. The Mellott High School graduate attended Marian College and Lafayette Business College. He served in the Army during World War I. He was a member of the Mellott Christian Church. Born April 8, 1896, he was a son of Charles M. and Rosa A. McAlister Cooper. He was married to Leotha Williams on May 17, 1924. She died Oct. 19, 1971. Surviving are seven brothers, Forest of Lakeland, Fla., Chester and Floyd of Attica, Marion H. Casper and Dowie of Crawfordsville and Fern of Mellott; and two sisters, Mrs. Elva Ballah of Veedersburg and Miss Gladys Cooper of Mellott. A brother, Homer, died in 1965. Five other brothers and sisters are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Dale Maus Chapel at Attica with the Rev. Don Green officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
